LIVING ROOM DESIGN IDEAS

Loving your living room is easy when it looks, feels and functions the way you want it to. Let’s discover how to elevate your space and showcase your personality!

Custom Furnishings

One of our favourite ways to achieve personality is custom furnishings. On both the Main Beach Residence and New Farm Apartment we created custom couches with complementing cushions which gave vibrance and visual interest. You can’t deny they POP!

Open Plan Living

Australians love their open plan living. After all, we’re not ones to be hemmed in!

Open-plan spaces combine the most important rooms in your home, giving you plenty of room to enjoy the company of family and friends over dinner parties, movie night or the usual day-to-day movements.

On the Clayfield Residence (below) we worked with Shaun Lockyer Architects who did an incredible job of creating seamless flow through the home. Our role was to create cohesion between each room, though defining distinct spaces for our client to live, relax and entertain.

Seating

Is there anything that says "I'm home" more than sinking in to the comfort of your lounge chair with a glass of wine.

In the Main Beach Residence, we added a bench seat to ensure these rooms stayed connected and further played on the open-plan living. This decision was made after determining the initial space planning and the removal of an internal wall. What better way to free up the space while keeping it connected than with a bench seat?

Coffee Tables

Coffee tables offer a fantastic focus to any living room. And as such, are a great way to bring your personality to the fore.

In the Byron Bay Residence, our objective was to source local suppliers whose materials and makes were unique and added another dimension to our rammed earth spaces. The inclusion of petrified wood as the coffee table added to the drama and natural feel of the space.

In the Clayfield Residence, we broke ‘the rules’ by using a large ottoman in the second living room instead of a traditional coffee table. Custom made for the space, it is the centrepiece of the room. We chose a striking mustard velvet fabric which is both sophisticated and dramatic, the perfect counterbalance to the stern concrete materials used throughout the home.

The Bar

Catching up with friends over a drink is the Australian way, so having a bar really puts the ‘living’ in any room!

This fun neon perspex bar was a feature in the Main Beach Residence living room. A clear table and chairs were the clear choice, allowing the bar to be SEEN and enjoyed in all its glory!
